Project Background
StarsDeck is a set of playing cards created for a Digital Design. The goal was to design cards, including Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Joker. The card design was unified by a single theme, aesthetic, and typeface. This project explored illustration, symbolism, and layout to craft cards appealing to astrology lovers and design enthusiasts.
Problem Statement
The challenge was to merge zodiac symbolism and classical influences, but still make sure it is legible and visually balanced.

The design began with research into zodiac signs and their associated constellations. Each zodiac sign inspired water signs: Cancer as the Queen, Scorpio as the King, and Pisces as the Jack. The Joker was inspired by Ophiuchus, the “13th sign.” Greek Corinthian architecture influenced the borders, incorporating elements to tie the zodiac theme to a classical aesthetic. The Charter typeface complemented the illustrations.
The final StarsDeck combined zodiac illustrations, constellations, and Greek decorative elements, creating an engaging set. The back of the card is the zodiac wheel pattern with blue and gold colours reflecting the connection to astrology.
